How to get attention from someone is something Chelsea Handler knows how to do well.

Before she became a successful author and host of the late night show “Chelsea Lately” on E!, Handler appeared in a sex tape that was homemade. She claims it was a joke.

RadarOnline.com obtained the explicit tape. It was made over ten years ago following Handler’s move to Los Angeles.

Apparently, the video begins with Handler dressed in a work uniform. She introduces herself on camera by her name and then launches into a comedy stand up routine. According to Radar, abruptly the tape cuts over to a scene showing Handler and a man with British accent engaged in explicit sex.

Described as completely naked in the explicit scene, Handler looks directly into the camera several times.

Then immediately the tape returns to the original stand-up comedy routine of Handler’s in what appears to be her apartment.

A representative for Handler confirmed the video’s authenticity, stating that is was an old tape for an old stand up routine.

On Wednesday night on her talk show, the 35 year old Handler addressed the matter. She discussed the sex time tape made when Handler was 23 years old.

Handler joked that she wanted to thank Radar Online for ruining her Christmas gift surprise for her staff. She added that the tape was made to be a joke. It was put on a comedy club audition tape. I’m a comedienne. I’ve shown it during birthday parties for years.

Handler, according to Radar, sent Hollywood agents the video tape as a demo when looking for work.

A source said it was a demo tape put together by Chelsea a few years after moving to Hollywood. She was trying to break into being a comedienne. It was made a long time ago on VHS tapes. Most people I’m sure just threw the tape out. Her stand-up was bad and people didn’t realize how big she would be one day. Many people who received the tape probably missed the sex altogether because they didn’t watch more than a few minutes.
