Those who have read (or listened to the audio book version which the author herself has narrated) Chelsea Handler’s “Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea” know that Chelsea’s funny, quirky and sometimes neurotic behavior stems from an equally funny and quirky family. And while we all know by now that actress Laura Prepon has already been cast to play her in the buzz worthy NBC pilot based on the bestselling book, Chelsea won’t be taking a backseat in the series, not off-cam at least, since she’s been cast to play her own older sister in the show. And for us big fans of the book, we all know that sister of hers has caused Chelsea a lot of trouble in the past, including her first DUI arrest.
In an interview with Prepon by E! News, she mentioned that while she hasn’t read any of Handler’s books, which to date has now published three bestsellers, she and the late night host and comedian do share a lot of similarities. “I’m from Jersey…Chelsea and I are similar, so it’s perfect we play sisters. It’s funny, because her vodka is my favorite vodka too. We both drink the same thing!”
Prepon also adds that filming starts in two weeks and is hoping that NBC picks it up since the show is “different and edgy”.
